So sánh Chuỗi chéo truyền thống và Tích hợp Đa chuỗi
Trước tiên, cần cài đặt ví và mua token Gas của chainB;
Tiếp theo, người dùng cần chuyển đổi tokenA sang stablecoin hoặc các token trung gian có thể cầu nối sang chainB;

title:In-Depth Decryption of zkLink: Finding Unity in a Multi-Chain World
description:In-Depth Decryption of zkLink: How to achieve unity in a multi-chain ecosystem?
keyword:zklink, multi-chain aggregation layer, architecture, features
From Layer 1, Layer 2, to Layer 3, the blockchain island effect has become increasingly prominent, and multi-chain interconnection has attracted more attention. From one comes two, from two comes three, and from three comes all things. Whether there will be L4, L5, Ln beyond L3 is unknown to us at present. One of the most pressing issues is how to combine the scattered liquidity islands. zkLink, focusing on this issue, has proposed a solution for aggregating multi-chain liquidity.
This article will focus on the technical principles, current status, and development roadmap of zkLink, providing a comprehensive analysis of the multi-chain aggregation layer based on ZK-Rollup technology — zkLink.
What is zkLink and what problem is it trying to solve?
With the development of blockchain technology, from the emergence of the first layer (L1) such as Ethereum, Solana, and other public chains, to the rise of the second layer (L2) like Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, and Starknet. While meeting the needs of different users, it has also brought about issues such as fragmented liquidity and high cross-chain costs. In addition, developers face increased complexity when deploying dApps due to different programming languages and tools on different chains.
Imagine a country composed of islands, with inconvenient transportation and an immature financial system, where each small island (blockchain) has its own independent currency and trading system. You want to shop between different islands (such as Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum), but each time you cross an island, you need to exchange currency, pay fees, and worry about losing money.
This is the current interactive dilemma faced by blockchain users: fragmented liquidity, high transaction costs, and insecurity. How to make cross-chain transactions as convenient and secure as on the same chain? zkLink has provided the answer.
(From: zkLink official website)
By using Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technology to unify L2 and L1, zkLink achieves multi-chain state synchronization and native asset aggregation. Tokens issued on different L1 chains and L2, such as USDT Ethereum, USDT BSC, etc., will be merged into a single USDT token within zkLink Rollups.
That is to say, this island nation has acquired an integrated trading hub, pooling the currencies of various smaller islands onto a single platform, eliminating the need for frequent currency exchanges, high transaction fees, or concerns about asset security. This is the multi-chain liquidity aggregation function achieved by zkLink, which far surpasses the concept of a “cross-chain bridge”.
Based on this, zkLink has created two main products: zkLink Nova and zkLink X.
zkLink Nova is the first aggregated L3 zkEVM Rollup network built on Ethereum and Ethereum L2, utilizing the zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) to pool assets from multiple Ethereum L2 networks, addressing the issues of Ethereum’s liquidity and asset dispersion.
zkLink X is an aggregated Rollup infrastructure that supports customized multi-chain dApp development, connecting L2 and L1, allowing developers to feel as if they are building applications on a single chain, but in reality, they have access to multi-chain liquidity.
Returning to the blockchain and island analogy, zkLink Nova is like a universal shopping card, allowing you to shop freely (interact) between various different island malls without repeatedly exchanging currencies.
And zkLink X is like a universal toolbox, no matter what type of mall shop (dapp) you want to build, you can customize it according to your own needs, like building blocks, and these shops also support currencies from different islands.
In this way, zkLink not only consolidates the liquidity scattered on different chains, reduces transaction costs and security risks, but also simplifies the multi-chain deployment of dApps, improves user experience, and ensures the security of dApp development.

What solutions does zkLink provide, and how does it stand out from the ‘multi-chain battle’?
Multi-chain and cross-chain are topics that have been discussed ad nauseam, but we need to understand that zkLink is not a cross-chain bridge; it is a chain that aggregates multi-chain liquidity.
So, how does zkLink achieve multi-chain aggregation?
The zkLink protocol is a multi-chain ZK-Rollup infrastructure composed of four layers: the Settlement Layer, Execution Layer, Sequencer Layer, and Data Availability Layer. These layers are independent of each other and support customized application Rollup deployment. The core value of the zkLink protocol is primarily in the Settlement Layer and the Execution Layer.
(zkLink Protocol Architecture Source: zkLink Official Website)
The Settlement Layer of zkLink serves as the most central part, akin to an aggregated settlement center that can integrate multiple chains and ensure that every transaction is verified across multiple chains through synchronization technology to prevent fraudulent operations.
Currently, there are two settlement schemes: zkLink Nexus and zkLink Origin, which cater to different network integration needs.
zkLink Nexus: Connects to Ethereum and its L2 networks, inheriting the security of Ethereum.
zkLink Origin: Can connect to other L1 public chains (such as Solana) and Ethereum to provide a broader integration.
Traditional Cross-Chain vs Multi-Chain Aggregation
Transacting between different blockchains leads to increased costs and a more complex experience. Both “traditional cross-chain” and “multi-chain aggregation” are solutions to this issue. Let’s take an example: imagine exchanging tokenA on chainA for tokenB on chainB through a DEX. What is the most primitive method?
First, you need to install a wallet and purchase the Gas token for chainB.
Next, users need to trade tokenA for a stablecoin or another intermediate token that can be bridged to chainB.
Finally, users need to purchase tokenB on a local DEX.
Compared to cross-chain transactions, it is clearly more complex and has higher wear and tear. Therefore, the emergence of cross-chain bridges has improved this experience to some extent.
However, the cost of cross-chain token transactions is still high, and users still find it difficult to interact seamlessly and cheaply with tokens across different chains.
In addition, traditional cross-chain solutions usually have a high degree of centralization and are susceptible to hacker attacks, leading to the risk of user funds being stolen.
Unlike traditional cross-chain solutions, zkLink offers a more secure multi-chain settlement solution, namely Nexus and Origin mentioned earlier, both of which utilize zero-knowledge proof technology (ZKPs). zkLink innovatively applies zero-knowledge proofs to multi-chain interoperability, adopting a decentralized and decentralized design, eliminating the need for third parties to ensure the security of assets and transactions, while ensuring the security and consistency of transactions and state transitions, reducing the risk of asset custody, and greatly enhancing security and efficiency.
From Layer 2 to Aggregated Layer 3
In addition to multi-chain aggregation, another highlight of zkLink is the construction of the third-layer zkLink Nova, which combines the liquidity islands of Ethereum L2.
Why build L3 and unify the liquidity of the L2 ecosystem?
We all know that the rise of the L2 boom has added a “highway” to Ethereum, making transactions faster and cheaper, but at the same time, it has also created a non-interoperable and fragmented blockchain landscape, where liquidity is trapped on isolated chains.
The native assets on different Ethereum L2s (such as ARB, OP, MANTA, etc.) cannot be interoperable for transactions, and transfers are often time-consuming and costly. Different assets are scattered across various L2 networks, leading to a waste of liquidity.
More and more L2s, sidechains, and decentralized applications have caused liquidity fragmentation, which is contrary to the goal of making Ethereum more user-friendly.
This is the price of Ethereum’s development of L2, which has dispersed liquidity to dozens of blockchains, urgently needing a more advanced solution to improve interoperability and efficiency.
Compared to most L3s that are designed to meet the needs of specific applications and deployed on a single L2 (such as Starknet or Arbitrum), zkLink Nova is a universal L3 aggregation network built on Ethereum and multiple L2 networks, with Ethereum and its L2s collectively serving as the settlement layer.
So, zkLink’s construction of L3 zkLink Nova is not only aimed at each layer being cheaper than the previous one, but also has the vision of “one Nova to rule them all.”
(From: zkLink official website)
Simply put, ETH deposited from different L2s will automatically merge into the same ETH on Nova.
Tokens of the same ERC-20 standard from different network bridges, such as USDC.Ethereum, USDC.Arbitrum, and other source tokens, can be merged into a single USDC on Nova. The merged USDC on Nova has unified liquidity, which enhances scalability and optimizes user experience.
zkLink vs Other Aggregation Solutions
Many Layer 2 (L2) solutions have also recognized the issue of fragmented liquidity and have attempted to address it. For example, Optimism’s Superchain, Polygon’s AggLayer, and zkSync’s Hyperbridge aim to unify liquidity by providing a unified bridge or shared sequencer.
However, they are only applicable to their independent sub-ecosystems and specific technology stacks. In this case, having multiple different technology stacks may exacerbate liquidity fragmentation and cross-chain interoperability issues, leading to a more fragmented Ethereum ecosystem.
Unlike these, any assets connected on any Layer 2 by zkLink Nova can be bridged to a Layer 3 network to achieve fast and interoperable transactions. Although it sacrifices the atomic interoperability of cross-rollup transactions, it provides the broadest liquidity aggregation across the entire Ethereum ecosystem.

From Present to Future: zkLink and the New Era of Cross-Chain
Current Development Status
Since the launch of the mainnet in March 2024, the zkLink Nova ecosystem has seen tremendous growth, covering more than 90 project partner projects by early May (the figure was officially released at the end of March and has not been synchronized with the data yet), involving DeFi, tools, social, gaming, and NFTs.
On March 14, zkLink Nova launched the first season of the ‘Aggregation Parade’ reward event, which lasted for a month. Tokens including ETH, L2 native tokens, stablecoins, LST, and LRT have the opportunity to earn Nova points, encouraging users to deposit assets into the L3 Nova mainnet.
In simple terms, users earn Nova points by cross-chain, staking, and inviting new users, which can be exchanged for ZKL tokens in the future.
Currently, the second season of the ‘Aggregation Parade’ reward event is underway, and Nova points can be increased by interacting with dApps that cooperate with zkLink Nova.
(zkLink Ecosystem Source: zkLink Official Website)
From the activities mentioned above, it is evident that the team has put in significant effort to promote user growth in the zkLink Nova ecosystem, and the data performance is equally impressive.
Currently, the Alpha mainnet in operation has conducted over 2 million transactions using zkLink technology, generating 500,000 unique addresses.
According to DefiLlama, as of May 22, zkLink Nova’s Total Value Locked (TVL) has surpassed $1 billion, with a 156% increase in the past month, making it the Layer 3 network with the highest TVL.
(Total Locked Value of zkLink Nova Source: zkLink Nova Official Website)
In terms of financing, zkLink raised $4.68 million through a CoinList community sale in January of this year, and in May of last year, zkLink completed a strategic financing of $10 million, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, SIG, BigBrain Holdings, and others.
So far, zkLink has raised a total of $23.18 million in financing, which will further develop the Nova protocol.
zkLink’s investors are more strategic partners, providing not only funding and manpower but also investing more resources to deepen cooperation with zkLink.
(Investors of zkLink Source: zkLink Official Website)
Looking ahead, the zkLink Nova mainnet has already been launched, and the team is upgrading the light node oracle network that verifies cross-chain states, ZK Oracle, as part of the improvement of the zkLink X protocol.
In the future, zkLink will also undergo a series of important upgrades, including support for external data availability (DA) solutions and a decentralized proof auction market.
Currently, zkLink’s sorting service is centrally managed, and the team plans to integrate decentralized solutions such as Espresso, Astria, and Fairblock in the future to reduce centralized risks. In addition, the ZKL token is also about to be launched, and the team is preparing for the Token Generation Event (TGE).
It can be seen that zkLink is continuously improving on the path to bringing unprecedented liquidity aggregation to Ethereum and its L2.
If achieving “seamless on-chain interaction” was previously a dream, then perhaps zkLink is turning that dream into reality.
(zkLink Roadmap Source: zkLink Official Website)
Summarizing, the future is destined to be an era of coexistence of multiple chains, and zkLink will also become a key hub, connecting various components and systems of L1 and L2 ecosystems.
It can be imagined that zkLink is leading a more interconnected multi-chain new era, bringing more new opportunities.
