Đăng ký ID là tạo cặp khóa liên kết với địa chỉ Ethereum mới được tạo cho tài khoản Farcaster của bạn;
Đăng ký lưu trữ là để nâng cao chất lượng lưu trữ nội dung của người dùng, người dùng theo nhu cầu của mình đăng ký không gian lưu trữ, giá là 12 đô la/đơn vị/năm, đây là một trong những nguồn thu nhập quan trọng của giao thức;
Tác động NFT: Người dùng có thể tạo ra, giao dịch NFT;
Trò chơi: Trực tiếp nhúng và tham gia trò chơi nhỏ trong bài đăng;
Đăng ký nội dung: Cho phép người theo dõi đăng ký nhận tin tức hoặc nội dung truyền thông khác;
Mua sắm: Người dùng có thể trực tiếp mua sản phẩm hoặc dịch vụ trong bài đăng;
Nhận quà tám: Theo yêu cầu của bên phát hành để nhận quà tám;
Chia sẻ và thưởng: DEGEN có thể sử dụng để thưởng cho tác giả nội dung trong cộng đồng, xúc tiến việc chia sẻ nội dung và sự tham gia của cộng đồng;
Sản xuất NFT: Trên các nền tảng như Zora và Highlight, người dùng có thể sử dụng DEGEN để sản xuất NFT, từ đó tăng cường lưu thông của nó trên thị trường nghệ thuật và sưu tập;
Giao dịch: DEGEN được sử dụng cho các giao dịch trong ứng dụng và trò chơi như Drakula và Bracket game;

Development History
Operational Model
Technical Core
Farcaster, in comparison to other SocialFi projects, boasts several key advantages: low gas fees, interaction speeds that are nearly on par with Web 2 social platforms, and a plugin marketplace similar to the Chrome Web Store. The foundational design logic of Farcaster divides the entire project’s framework into three layers: the identity layer, the data layer, and the application layer.
Identity Layer: The bottom layer of the protocol is built on the Ethereum and Optimism (OP) blockchains, which Farcaster uses to manage user identity information. Users create, manage, and store their accounts through this layer.
Data Layer: Farcaster’s data layer, known as Farcaster Hubs, is established off-chain. In Farcaster, all data information aside from user identity is stored in this layer.
Application Layer: The on-chain apps of the protocol are combined to form the application layer, where all developers build various applications based on user data from the identity layer and content data recorded in Farcaster Hubs.
Operational Logic
User Registration: For first-time use, users are required to register their own domain name through ENS or Fnames, and then register their ID, store registration, and key registration on Farcaster, as shown in Figure 1-1-4.
ID Registration: This process generates a key pair linked to the user’s Ethereum address for the newly created Farcaster account.
Storage Registration: To enhance the quality of user content storage, users subscribe to storage space according to their needs, priced at $12 per unit per year. This is one of the protocol’s significant revenue sources.
Key Registration: This allows users to authorize and revoke account ownership, enabling them to write and sign messages on their behalf.
App Integration: Developers integrate with Farcaster’s API and then construct their project smart contracts based on Farcaster’s project framework. Various interaction data generated during this process are stored in the off-chain Farcaster Hubs. Dapp developers are also required to pay a reserve fee. Since user data and Dapp data interactions occur on the same layer, the interaction speed is close to the experience of Web2 internet.
Frames Plugin: This innovative feature has been the main catalyst for Farcaster’s advantage over other SocialFi projects. The Frames plugin allows users to directly access various functions and services during social media interactions without leaving the Farcaster platform, similar to how Chrome operates within Google. Users can perform the following actions through Frames:
- NFT Interaction: Users can mint and trade NFTs.
- Gaming: Directly embed and participate in mini-games within posts.
- Content Subscription: Allows followers to subscribe to newsletters or other media content.
- Shopping: Users can directly purchase goods or services within posts.
- Claiming Airdrops: Collect token airdrops according to the requirements published by the project.
In summary, Farcaster first transformed its storage method from the on-chain storage used by traditional SocialFi projects to a hybrid of on-chain and off-chain storage. This not only significantly reduced Farcaster’s storage costs but also increased the project’s operational speed. Secondly, Farcaster adopted the Frames plugin, leading to an explosive growth in the number of users. The overall operational logic of Farcaster is shown in Figures 1-4-2.
Advantages Compared to Competing Projects:
As a project in the SocialFi track focusing on the social graph niche, Farcaster’s main competitors are other social graph-like projects, such as Lens. Its advantages include:
- Use of Frames Plugin: The use of the Farcaster Frames plugin signifies that Farcaster has endowed SocialFi projects with more capabilities. With the surge in popularity of Meme tokens, more and more Meme projects are starting to disseminate information through Farcaster. The Frames plugin can promptly reach users with these messages, and the timeliness of obtaining information during Meme token transactions has become crucial. As a result, a large number of users are flocking to Farcaster to get the most timely news. Additionally, users can claim airdrops and mint NFTs through Frame, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between social platforms and wallets, greatly improving efficiency. This is the main reason why the Frames plugin has brought a booming effect to Farcaster.
Top-tier Team: Farcaster was co-founded by Dan Romero and Varun Srinivasan, both of whom have served as executives at Coinbase, with Dan Romero even holding the position of General Manager at Coinbase. This indicates their profound industry background. With the halo effect of Coinbase, the project has a significant advantage in obtaining industry resources and financing capabilities.
Hybrid Storage: Generally, SocialFi projects adopt on-chain storage methods, resulting in slower information processing speeds for most projects. However, Farcaster has adopted a hybrid storage approach, storing important information on-chain and less important information off-chain, greatly improving the project’s information processing speed and being very user-friendly.
In summary, by adopting Frames, Farcaster has made the project more akin to traditional Web 2.0 social platforms, making it easier for users to accept, while also greatly improving user efficiency. After adopting the hybrid storage structure of Farcaster Hubs, Farcaster’s operational efficiency has been greatly enhanced, and the gas fees have been reduced, making it more user-friendly.
Economic Model
The Farcaster economic model consists of two roles: application developers and users.
Application Developers: Farcaster is a framework setter, which has detailed various rules within the framework. It requires a multitude of applications to settle in Farcaster to build a rich and complete ecosystem. Many projects within the Farcaster ecosystem, in order to attract traffic, will generally pay users various on-chain fees. Moreover, the projects of application developers also require a significant amount of data storage, thus necessitating the payment of certain storage fees. Therefore, the on-chain fees and storage fees paid by application developers are one of the important sources of income for the Farcaster project.
Users engage with Farcaster to gain more information about blockchain projects and participate in various project activities, such as airdrops, minting NFTs, and engaging in games. Whether it’s purchasing an ID, storage space, and other operations after initially joining Farcaster, or later interactions with projects, users will incur on-chain fees. Additionally, users will store data they consider important, thus contributing to project revenue by paying certain storage fees.
From the analysis above, it can be seen that Farcaster’s revenue comes from the gas fees and storage fees paid by application developers and users, as shown in Figure 2-1.
Statistical data indicates that Farcaster’s revenue has been growing steadily, with the total project revenue already exceeding $1 million.
Data Analysis
Daily Active Users (DAU) Data
As shown in Figure 3-1, Farcaster’s DAU continues to grow and is maintained above 40,000. From the right chart, among the three types of message interactions: casts, reactions, and links, reactions are the most used option. That is, the act of users liking posts is the most interactive type, reflecting that the largest proportion of daily active users on Farcaster are existing customers.
Registration Data
As shown in Figure 3-2-1, the daily registration situation of Farcaster in the past two months, the number of daily registrations changes with the market sentiment. Although the number of registrations has decreased significantly due to the market downturn recently, it still maintains an increase of around 2600 per day.
DAU/MAU Conversion Ratio
As shown in Figure 3-3-1, the DAU/MAU ratio is continuously rising, which represents that Farcaster’s monthly active users are constantly being converted into daily active users. The conversion rate has now reached 0.47. Users are gradually becoming dependent on Farcaster, and nearly half of the users will use Farcaster every day after registration, gradually making Farcaster a fixed part of their lifestyle.
Farcaster’s User Chain Proportion
Figure 3-4-1 data indicates that the largest proportion of Farcaster user transactions is on the Base chain, which indirectly proves that the main reason users choose Farcaster now is still because of memes. Therefore, Farcaster has established channels for the dissemination of meme information, and users can directly participate in meme projects within the Farcaster project through Frames, which helps to increase the data of Farcaster.
DEGEN
Farcaster is quite unique because it has not issued its own token, so it lacks a transaction medium for transactions and rewards within the Farcaster ecosystem. Therefore, it was decided by community consensus and repeated discussions to use DEGEN as the main transaction medium in the Farcaster ecosystem.
DEGEN is a meme token, not a token issued by Farcaster officially. DEGEN was initially used as a reward token for participants in the Farcaster Degen channel. After more than 5 months of community recognition and promotion, DEGEN tokens have now become the first recognized token within the Farcaster community, close to the status of Farcaster’s project token.
The total circulation of DEGEN tokens is 37 billion, of which 70% is distributed to the community, 15% of the tokens have been allocated to liquidity pools, and the remaining 15% will be allocated to teams, investors, and a broader ecosystem that support DEGEN. In addition, a 1% inflation rate will start from 2028.
Its main uses are:
- Sharing and tipping: DEGEN can be used to tip content creators in the community, promoting content sharing and community participation;
- Minting NFTs: On platforms such as Zora and Highlight, users can use DEGEN to mint NFTs, thereby increasing their liquidity in the art and collectibles market;
- Trading: DEGEN is used for various in-app and in-game transactions, such as Drakula and Bracket game;
- Community building: DEGEN is also used to support and fund community projects, such as development and operation on Degen L3.
Protocol Ecosystem
After several months of development, the ecosystem of the Farcaster protocol has taken shape:
Warps Points
Earn Points: Users can earn Warps points through social actions such as posting content, commenting, and sharing, which aims to encourage more frequent use of the platform and sharing of valuable content. Additionally, Farcaster may set specific social tasks or challenges, and users can also earn Warps points upon completion of these tasks. Users who contribute to the community, such as content creators or technical supporters, can receive Warps points through community recognition or direct rewards.
Use Points: In terms of usage, Warps points can be used to pay for fees, and users can use points to engage in specific activities on Farcaster, such as participating in specific social events or purchasing social features. Moreover, users can also use points to create new social channels, which may be organized around specific topics or interests. Additionally, users can give points to other users as a reward for their content or interaction.
Manage and Issue Points: The Warps point system is centrally managed by the Farcaster team, which means that the issuance, distribution, and rules of the points are set and controlled by platform administrators. Therefore, Warps is not equivalent to a token and is a functional point within the Farcaster ecosystem.
As an important part of the Farcaster platform, Warps points will provide users with more opportunities to participate and contribute, and support the stable development of the platform ecosystem.
Searchcaster
Searchcaster is a search engine service based on Farcaster, which allows users to search for content through keywords, tags, and other methods. This tool supports multi-dimensional searches for users, topics, applications, etc. It can search for information in the Farcaster protocol through an API or graphical user interface (GUI), ensuring efficient access to the required information. In addition, Searchcaster also provides a web application for real-time audio conversations within the Farcaster community, promoting dynamic interaction.
Furthermore, Searchcaster is described as being able to allow users to search for keywords from Farcaster data and browse popular information within Farcaster without logging in. This indicates that Searchcaster is not only a powerful search tool but also committed to transforming towards a decentralized social media landscape, providing users with a more diverse content retrieval experience.
Jam
The Jam project is a creator economy client, with main features including posting and browsing within its APP. It is worth noting that when users post with Jam, they must include images, hence it is referred to as onchain Instagram.
Additionally, Jam has introduced the concept of ‘Friends Token’, a feature that allows users to directly purchase and trade shares of content creators and their posts within the social dApp.
In summary, the Jam project is not just a social media application; it also provides a new way for users to participate and benefit through innovative features such as ‘Friends Token’, making it a key component of the Farcaster ecosystem.
Wield
Wield focuses on providing free, open-source Farcaster API services. The Wield project aims to explore cryptocurrency in an interesting way through far.quest, and also provides a decentralized social network protocol, offering users a more open, free, and secure social experience.
Furthermore, the Wield project also involves the concept of running centralized servers (Hubs), which means maintaining the operation of the network through centralized servers operated by community members. This includes using services like wield.co to obtain free read access, as well as accessing and writing information to the network by running your own centralized server or using services similar to wield.co. These centralized servers allow users to verify data, prevent network spam, and support static and dynamic frame images.
Yup
Farcaster itself is a decentralized social application protocol, supporting multiple clients, similar to the email system.
Yup serves as a bridge within the Farcaster ecosystem, connecting users with content curation. It offers a unique Web3 social networking feature that provides a platform for users to showcase and share content while also encouraging participation and interaction. Additionally, Farcaster, as a decentralized social application protocol, provides technical and platform support for projects like Yup, enabling them to operate and develop in an open and free environment.
Project Risks:
No Issued Protocol Tokens: Despite its rapid development, Farcaster has not released its own tokens since its inception in 2020. Users still rely on other meme tokens like DEGEN for activities such as tipping within the Farcaster project, which depends on community consensus. The absence of a token model not only affects the cohesion of the Farcaster community but also lacks a wealth effect, reducing market attention to Farcaster itself. Even if a token model is released later, there may be flaws that could impact the development of the Farcaster project.
Paid Usage: Users are required to pay a storage fee of 12 USD before using Farcaster and also need to spend money on the Ethereum network to create their own ID. The need to pay for registration on a social product will significantly reduce the interest of new users in signing up.
Conclusion:
Farcaster is a decentralized social networking protocol aimed at achieving social connections, content sharing, and data ownership among users through smart contracts and hybrid storage technology. Farcaster uses Farcaster Hubs to implement a hybrid storage method, which makes operations much smoother than other projects in the same field. Furthermore, Farcaster employs Frames plugins, allowing users to participate in airdrops, mint NFTs, and play games without switching between Farcaster, wallets, and project websites. This makes the user experience closer to existing Web 2.0 social projects, giving Farcaster a significant advantage in the SocialFi race.
Farcaster has been slow to reveal its own token model, causing users in the Farcaster community to treat Farcaster merely as a social platform where they can obtain various industry information or participate in airdrops of other projects. However, the absence of a project token reduces attention and limits Farcaster’s development. Additionally, Farcaster’s consumption-first participation model has had a significant negative impact on user growth.
In summary, the Farcaster project itself, through its unique project framework, has completely changed the way traditional SocialFi projects store data. It also introduced the Frames plugin, which far surpasses other SocialFi projects in terms of application effects and efficiency, helping it become a leader in the Social industry.
